By Car

The drive from Reykjavik to GeoSea takes approximately 5-6 hours, covering a distance of 464 km (288 miles). You will be traveling for most of the journey on the Ring Road, through the town of Akureyri, and then turn off on to Route 85, taking you straight to Husavik.

By Plane

You can also take a 45-minute flight from Reykjavík Domestic Airport to Akureyri, then rent a car and drive approximately an hour and a half to reach GeoSea. Alternatively, you could book a bus transfer or private shuttle service from Akureyri Airport to GeoSea.

By Bus

The SBA-Norðurleid bus service offers departures from Reykjavík to Husavik, with a journey time of approximately 7 hours. You can book tickets online or at the BSI Bus Terminal in Reykjavík.

From Akureyri

By Car

From Akureyri, follow Route 1 through the Vaðlaheiði tunnel (keep in mind that the tunnel has tolls and speed cameras). After exiting the tunnel, take the second highway north—Highway 85, which leads towards Húsavík.

As you enter Húsavík, you’ll pass the large church on your right and the harbor on your left. Just beyond the harbor, take the second left onto Laugarbrekka, heading uphill. Follow the signs for GeoSea by turning right onto Höfðavegur. 

You’ll find GeoSea on your left, easily recognized by the big, yellow lighthouse. Be aware that GPS and mobile apps might sometimes direct you incorrectly towards the harbor.
